Real Madrid have ended their push to sign David De Gea this summer, although the club might eventually try to land him in another transfer window.
The European champions made De Gea one of their main targets again this summer, two years after seeing a deal collapse at the last minute.
However, Manchester United are not eager to lose their goalkeeper and are demanding a fee in excess of £60million.
As such, Marca reported on Wednesday that they have given up – for now – on bringing De Gea back to Spain.
It is understood that Madrid are put off by United’s price tag, while De Gea himself has made it clear he will not force a move away from Old Trafford.
There are also reports that Madrid’s players are fully behind current number one Keylor Navas and want him to continue.
